Etykieta dobrego controllera
The article published in the magazine „Controlling i Zarządzanie“ No. 1(63) /2025 demonstrates how a well-designed report structure supports accurate business decisions for top management and board members. Consistent labels, descriptions, uniform charts, and properly presented KPIs streamline and accelerate data analysis, leading to better discussion quality and more accurate interpretation of financial, HR, and other key business indicators. The author emphasizes that applying the principles of IBCS (International Business Communication Standards) significantly reduces analysis time and improves report readability through better structure, which is particularly important in organizations such as Shared Services Centers (SSC).
In shared services centers, reporting is not just a process but also a product and a source of revenue. Therefore, its effectiveness, proper visualization, and the value of data analysis provided to clients are crucial. In such companies, reporting covers various business areas, such as sales, marketing, finance, HR, R&D, production, projects, and process management, at different management levels.
Among the most common reporting errors are inconsistent indicator naming, lack of logical structure, and excessive use of colors and embellishments that hinder interpretation and slow down decision-making. The author presents proven techniques for optimizing reports: standardizing formats, eliminating unnecessary visual elements, and using clear headings and labels that clearly indicate key data.
Implementing IBCS standards allows companies, including Shared Services Centers (SSC), to significantly improve report readability and management efficiency, which translates into faster and more accurate decisions at the management level.
